Postalgo Catalog Contribution Terms
Status: Published
Version: 1.0
Effective date: 2026-08-05
Last updated: 2026-08-05
These Catalog Contribution Terms apply when you create, correct, review, merge, split, or otherwise contribute to the Postalgo Music catalog. They supplement the Postalgo Terms of Service.
1. Acceptance
You must accept the current version of these terms before making your first catalog contribution. We may ask you to accept them again after a material change.
These terms apply whether the contribution begins on Postalgo, Postalgo Music, or a future authorised contribution interface. They do not apply to an ordinary Postalgo post merely because the post refers to music.
2. What counts as a contribution
A "Contribution" includes catalog metadata, corrections, credited names, relationships, evidence links, source notes, disambiguation text, editorial rationales, reports, and decisions you submit to Postalgo Music.
Catalog facts may include song and release titles, artist credits, dates, durations, track positions, relationships, and identifiers. Some facts may not be protected by copyright, but these terms apply to any rights you do hold in a Contribution.
3. Rights you grant to Postalgo
You retain any rights you have in your Contribution. You grant Postalgo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, and sublicensable licence to:
- host, store, reproduce, and process the Contribution
- edit, correct, translate, format, combine, and adapt it
- publish, display, distribute, and make it available
- include it in the Postalgo Music database and related products
- license the Contribution and catalog data to API users and other partners
- use it commercially or non-commercially in any current or future medium
This licence continues after you delete your account or stop using the Services. To the extent permitted by law, you waive or agree not to assert moral rights in the Contribution where they would prevent Postalgo or its licensees from using the rights granted above.
The licence does not give Postalgo ownership of material that belongs to someone else, and it does not make an unlawful submission lawful.
4. What you promise
For each Contribution, you confirm that:
- the information is submitted honestly and you believe it is accurate
- you created it, obtained it lawfully, or otherwise have the rights needed to submit it and grant this licence
- it does not knowingly infringe copyright, database rights, privacy, publicity, trademark, confidentiality, or another person's rights
- it was not obtained by systematically copying or scraping another database or service in breach of law or applicable terms
- any evidence link is supplied for reference and does not imply that Postalgo may copy the material found there
Do not submit lyrics, reviews, biographies, photographs, artwork, article bodies, or other substantial creative material unless Postalgo has expressly enabled that type of submission and you have the necessary permission.
5. Publication and editorial control
A new catalog record may become public immediately. Later corrections may go through review and a publication waiting period.
Postalgo may edit, combine, reject, correct, merge, split, redirect, hide, or remove a Contribution. We may preserve an audit record and alternate identifier where needed to explain catalog history or keep links working.
Submitting information does not give you ownership or control of the resulting artist, song, release, profile, identifier, or catalog record. We do not promise that a Contribution will remain public, unchanged, attributed to you, or attached to a particular record.
6. Attribution and privacy
Your username or another public contribution name may appear with a Contribution and its edit history. The Postalgo Privacy Notice explains how public attribution, restricted audit records, and account deletion are handled.
You will not receive payment, royalties, or other compensation for a Contribution unless we agree otherwise in writing.
7. Curators and trusted editors
Curators and trusted editors receive additional permissions, not ownership of the catalog. They must use those permissions carefully, record honest reasons for material decisions, disclose relevant conflicts, and follow any editorial rules attached to the role.
Passing an examination does not guarantee a role. Postalgo may refuse, limit, or revoke editorial permissions when reasonably needed to protect catalog quality, users, or the Services.
8. Reports, removal, and enforcement
You may report an inaccurate, abusive, or potentially infringing Contribution through the available reporting tools or by contacting us.
Postalgo may remove Contributions and restrict contribution access where it reasonably believes these terms have been breached. Repeated fabrication, spam, infringement, harassment, or attempts to evade moderation may lead to account restrictions under the Postalgo Terms of Service.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the contribution system changes. We will publish the revised version and update the date above. If a change materially affects the rights you grant or your obligations, we will require acceptance before a later Contribution. Rights already granted for earlier Contributions continue under the version accepted when they were submitted.
