Postalgo Terms of Service

Status: Published
Version: 1.1
Effective date: 2026-08-07
Last updated: 2026-08-07

These Terms of Service govern your use of Postalgo, Postalgo Music, and the websites and services that link to these terms. Together, we call them the "Services".

The Services are operated by Floffah ("Postalgo", "we", "us", or "our"). If you have questions about these terms, contact postalgo@floffah.dev.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these terms. If you use the Services for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to act for that organisation.

Some activities have additional terms:

Those documents form part of your agreement when you use the relevant feature. An enterprise API agreement may override identified parts of the API Developer Agreement.

2. The Services

Postalgo is a platform for publishing and discovering personal writing about music. Postalgo Music is a supporting service that maintains music metadata, stable catalog identifiers, and related editorial history. Postalgo may link to or embed music hosted by other services, but it does not host most music itself.

3. Accounts

Authentication is handled by Clerk. You must provide accurate account information, keep access to your account secure, and take responsibility for activity performed through it. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.

You must not create accounts to evade a suspension, rate limit, or other restriction. You may not sell, transfer, or share access to an account in a way that compromises its security.

4. Using the Services

You must use the Services lawfully and respect other people and their rights. You must not:

We may investigate suspected abuse and may remove content or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, third parties, or the Services.

5. Ordinary user content

You retain any rights you have in posts, notes, captions, profile information, and other ordinary content you submit to Postalgo.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content only as needed to provide and operate the Services. This licence allows normal technical changes such as resizing an image or displaying a post in different layouts.

You are responsible for your content. You must have the rights needed to submit it, and it must not infringe copyright, privacy, publicity, trademark, or other rights. We may remove content that breaks these terms or creates legal or safety risk.

Public posts and profiles are visible to other people by design. Deleting content or an account does not necessarily remove copies that another user has lawfully shared outside the Services.

6. Postalgo Music contributions

Catalog metadata is different from ordinary Postalgo content. Before making a first catalog contribution, you must accept the current Catalog Contribution Terms. Those terms give Postalgo the continuing rights needed to maintain, correct, publish, and license the catalog.

Catalog records may be corrected, merged, split, redirected, hidden, or removed. No contributor owns a catalog record or has a right to keep a contribution in a particular form.

7. Curators, editors, and claims

Postalgo may grant additional permissions to curators, trusted editors, verified artist claimants, and administrators. A role may require an examination, evidence, or manual assessment. Passing an examination does not guarantee appointment.

Role holders must follow the Catalog Contribution Terms and any editorial rules shown when the role is accepted. We may limit or revoke a role when needed to protect catalog quality, users, or the Services. Role decisions do not transfer ownership of an artist profile or catalog record.

8. API access

An API key does not grant ownership of Postalgo data. Application use requires acceptance of the API Developer Agreement. The agreement covers the permitted use of returned metadata, attribution, caching, usage limits, commercial eligibility, and prohibited bulk extraction.

You are responsible for API keys issued through your account and for activity performed with them.

9. Third-party services and content

The Services may link to or embed content from services such as Bandcamp, Spotify, or YouTube. The original creators and providers retain their rights. Their own terms and privacy practices apply when you use their services.

We do not control third-party content, availability, or security and are not responsible for losses caused by a third-party service except where the law says otherwise.

10. Privacy

The Postalgo Privacy Notice explains what personal information we collect and how we use it. The notice is not a licence to use your content and is not a substitute for any consent that the law requires us to request separately.

11. Availability and changes to the Services

We aim to keep the Services available and working well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may change, and we may suspend or discontinue part of the Services. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice of a change that materially affects registered users.

You should keep your own copy of content that you cannot afford to lose.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. You may also request account deletion through the available account controls or by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, create legal or security risk, repeatedly harm other users, or if we must do so by law. Where appropriate, we may give notice and an opportunity to address the issue. We may act without notice when immediate action is reasonably necessary.

Terms that are intended to continue, including licences already granted, liability provisions, and restrictions concerning retained data, survive termination.

13. Disclaimers and liability

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that catalog metadata, user content, external links, or third-party information is complete or accurate.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, loss caused by another user, loss of data you did not back up, or interruption caused by systems outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability for fraud and liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. These terms do not reduce any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Services change. We will publish the revised version and update the date above. We will give reasonable notice of material changes and may require registered users to accept them before continuing to use affected features.
